MUSIC PROGRAM BASIC INFO

The Tacoma Area Homeschool Band is in session for the 2017-18 school year.

We have Beginning Band, Intermediate Band, Guitar class (level 1 & 2), Choir and General Music (age 4-9).

Fees: $40 per student per semester Band fee (twice yearly, to cover rent, insurance, supplies) and then $25/mo for the first student and $20/mo for additional siblings instructional fee (paid directly to the musical director/guitar teacher).

You will be required to bring a music stand, 2 required books and your instrument (owned or rented) to rehearsals.

Approximate age range will be 5th through 12th grade (4th grade with director approval). NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.

Suggested instruments for beginners: flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, French horn, baritone horn, or bell kit. Drums is also an option. Guitar and bass guitar will be taught concurrently as a separate class. Other instruments can join with prior experience.

For rentals and book purchases (titles available in July), we recommend Music & Arts in the Lakewood Towne Center, or other locations of that chain.

Thursday, June 21 at 9 AM – 12 PM

Come find out about our music programs!!!
From 9am – 10am there will be a general information session with an “instrument petting zoo” where kids can come and try out sample instruments provided by a local music store. (Rental information available as well).
At this time, board members will give out basic information on our programs and answer any questions.

10am – 12 noon there will be sample classes that can be either observed or participated in.

TRY BAND FOR FREE

TRY BAND FOR FREE: Now that band is off to a great start, still not sure if you want to join? No problem. Come down any Thursday from 10-12, bring your instrument, and join class. First class trial will be FREE, no band fee, no teacher fee, no book to buy, so you can decide if band is right for you! It’s that easy. Band is for 5th through 12th grade, with a minimum age of 9. Contact Emilie Greenwell if you have any questions!!

Spring Semester

Spring Semester is from January 5th to May 25th. There will be no classes on February 16th for mid-Winter Break and no classes April 6th for Spring Break. We will meet all other Thursdays during Spring Semester.

Holiday Concert!

Absences

Please keep us posted if you won’t be in to practice.  We have recorded about 10 absences so far and one late out of our 29 kids.

If your kids are sick, just let us know.  You can post it on our Facebook group!  (Tacoma Area Homeschool Band)
